Tong Jie is a professor and master's supervisor, serving as the Deputy Director of the Humanities and Social Science Division at Ningbo University. He also oversees the professional master's program at the Ningbo University Museum and is recognized as a leading figure in Ningbo City. Tong Jie is the Chief Expert of a major project funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, titled "Research on Maritime Concepts, Policies, and Systems during the Ming and Qing Dynasties."
He holds several key positions, including board member of the Zhejiang Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Historical Theory Subcommittee of the Historical Society, and the Zhejiang Historical Society. Additionally, he is the Secretary-General of the Zhejiang-East Culture Research Institute and the Director of the Zhejiang-East Academic Culture Research Center in Ningbo City.
In recent years, Tong Jie has primarily focused on Ming Dynasty coastal defense documents and the history of Sino-foreign communications. His papers have been published in various journals and newspapers such as "Historical Theory Research," "Historical Monthly," "Journal of Historical Studies," "Collected Papers of History," "Zhejiang Social Sciences," and "Guangming Daily." He has led numerous significant research projects, including major projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, youth projects, ancient book collation projects for higher education institutions, and key projects under the Zhejiang Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning.
